Smart Guidance in Buying QED uPlay Stream Wireless Media Player

Qed uplay stream – outstanding value . Truly happy with this specially now the rate has lowered from £149 – an absolute bargain, cant believe that itmy previous, but fair quality, hifi process has stood idle for many several years, considering that i place all my tunes on the network and streamed it to contemporary units all-around the property, and i wished to get it related to the network – this device does just that. I use it mainly for streaming new music (flac information) from my synology 212j diskstation, but it will work with all my dlna enabled devices. I have utilized it with laptop computer tunes utilizing wmp and foobar 2000 (foobar desired an more rendering element installing – see their handbook). I was concerned i wouldn’t get internet radio right after seeing one of the testimonials beneath but it does this just fine. Just go into the browser, find songs and there is an world-wide-web radio option at the base. I’m not positive how this works but i assume you want some kind of world-wide-web radio ‘server’ on your community. My diskstation supports shoutcast radio and this plays through the uplay, i have also acquired it functioning with foobar and it appears to be like like you could also use wmp and maybe itunes while i haven’t tried these. I am working with it more than wifi fairly than ethernet cable at the moment and the connection has been solid. The app displays the sign as ‘weak’ (13mbps) but it operates fantastic with lossless flac data files so mp3 really should be a breeze.

I acquired a pair of these immediate from richer sounds when the value dropped from £149 to £49. I was attempting to produce a connected program for our lounge & kitchen which both equally have current sound techniques. I am gradually placing our tunes selection onto a synology nas travel and the downloaded uplay app experienced no hassle discovering it. The skill to sync the two uplay units was great and it labored – type of. There are some glitches as stated by other folks. Songs can instantly fall out with a warning about ‘unsupported media’, only it performed it great yesterday. Also it would often eliminate a single or both of the playback units with either a reboot of the managing tablet or the person device necessary to get it likely once more. And sadly there was no way i could discover to get world-wide-web radio stations jogging on the qed procedure. Yesterday i bought two chromecast audio models from a significant electricals retailer for just £25 each individual.

QED uPlay Stream Wireless Media Player

  • Dedicated App for Apple iOS and Android for set up and control
  • Multi-room capability with up to 8 x uPlay Stream
  • Audio Formats Supported: MP3, AAC, WMA, WAV, FLAC, Apple Lossless

Pretty good overall performance, lacking anything to be ideal. Really steady, no glitch or free of connection. I used it accessing a dlna compliant router (wd mynet 900) connected to an exterior tricky disk crammed with mp3 (320kbps) and flac (sixteen/44,one) filesmusically is not bad, said that for this rate one cannot assume top good quality like cambridge, linn, naim and so. Would be awesome getting world wide web radio and some streaming services like deezer or spotify. In any case at this instant it truly is a winner in value/overall performance ratio.

A deal – really happy so much. I picked it up for £50 from richer appears and have been really delighted so far. I am working with a wd mycloud nas as a dlna server and most of my music is in apple lossless format. I’ve connected the qed uplay by ethernet so won’t be able to remark on wifi efficiency. The qed uplay is then linked to my historic naim amp that feeds a pair of mission speakers. I’m incredibly content with the seem high quality. I might agree with former comments about employing the qed uplay app. My library has 25000+ tracks and it is fairly sluggish to populate the list of artist/albums which is discouraging. The bubbleupnp app is considerably greater in this regard and will make the regulate experience significantly slicker.

Tolerance tester pulls by. . Terrific small streamer the moment doing work, particularly at £60 from richer appears, but was a pig to set up on my network.

QED uPlay Stream Wireless Media Player : I bought this to play my music collection stored on a nas box (a readynas as it happens) through my hi-fi. Setup was easy (once i figured out you need to give it a couple of minutes to be found by the app first time around) but i was using a wired connection, so i can’t comment on how easy it would have been using wifi. The sound is really rather good and, considering the price, phenomenali’m also not using qed’s own app – i’m using bubbleupnp on an android tablet and this combination works very well, provided your mp3 collection is properly tagged with artist, album and cover art (i use mp3tag to tidy up any errors in tagging). There are some minor niggles -a) there is no way to turn it off other than to pull the plug and that may not be easy depending on how neat and tidy your wiring isb) the supplied cables (ethernet and audio) are really really short – odd for a company that made its name with cablesc) the leds are unbelievably brightd) finally, what may be the show stopper for some and irrelevant to others, it doesn’t handle gapless playback – not a problem most of the time but very irritating if you listen to live albums (or maybe those 70s prog rock concept albums where one track blends into the next?)if you can live with gaps between tracks on playback and you have (or order) longer cables, i’d thoroughly recommend it.

I bought a couple of these direct from richer sounds when the price dropped from £149 to £49. I was trying to create a linked system for our lounge & kitchen which both have existing sound systems. I am slowly putting our music collection onto a synology nas drive and the downloaded uplay app had no trouble discovering it. The ability to sync the two uplay units was great and it worked – sort of. There are some glitches as mentioned by others. Music can suddenly drop out with a warning about ‘unsupported media’, only it played it fine yesterday. Also it would occasionally lose one or either of the playback units with either a reboot of the controlling tablet or the individual unit required to get it going again. And unfortunately there was no way i could find to get internet radio stations running on the qed system. Yesterday i bought two chromecast audio units from a large electricals retailer for just £25 each.

A good introduction to streaming but with some limitations – given the price however, these are more than acceptable. First of all this is very good value for money – especially at the vip priceit is an excellent introduction to the wonders of streaming files around your homefrom nas drives & computers. The qed was extremely easy to set up – with everythingneeded in the box – & the quick start guide was sufficient. Other users havecriticised the app but it seems to work as intended & a little time spent getting toknow it’s features is worthwhile. Web-based access also helps with any difficulties- via a very small program for computer. The unit very quickly sniffed out all the music on my network, stored in a varietyof ways & in a range of formats and played these faultlessly & in good qualityvia wifi & ethernet: suggesting a well implemented, if slightly basic, internal dac. The only drawbacks i can raise are: the provided & good quality qed phono lead is very short whichmeans having to site the small box right next to my amp; only one output (3. 5mm analogue) is offered; additionally, buried in the full user manual from qed’s website is the news that this unit actually down converts any file it plays to 16 bit, which is disappointing if you offer it 24/48 for example; also there seems no way to stop the streamer from alphabetically listing any files in a folder, i. Not in original album order; last but not least, if you turn the streamer’s volume to maximum when playing a file there is some distortion – moderating volume to 94% or below audibly reduces this.

Qed uplay stream – excellent value . Really pleased with this especially now the price has reduced from £149 – an absolute bargain, cant believe itmy old, but reasonable quality, hifi system has stood idle for several years, since i put all my music on the network and streamed it to modern devices around the house, and i wanted to get it connected to the network – this device does just that. Okay but some irritating quirks – now improved after some updates. I’m just getting to grips with the qed uplay stream. A couple of issues are fairly irritating. Firstly, the browser shows and plays album tracks alphabetically rather than according to track number. This might not be a problem if you don’t mind your music being shuffled all over the place, but for anything that needs tracks played in order (particularly classical music) it’s a disaster. The other problem relates to how the ipad app finds the stream source. If the app stays active in the background, or if the ipad is closed, the app won’t automatically find the uplay stream when the app is reactivated. The only way to get the uplay stream active again is to swipe the app off the screen and then restart it. It’s also annoying having to select between ipad and uplay stream every time the app is opened. I can’t imagine many people wanting to stream sound into their ipad, so the default really should be the uplay stream.

Very good performance, lacking something to be perfect. Very stable, no glitch or loose of connection. I used it accessing a dlna compliant router (wd mynet 900) connected to an external hard disk filled with mp3 (320kbps) and flac (16/44,1) filesmusically is not bad, stated that for this price one can’t expect top quality like cambridge, linn, naim and so. Would be nice having internet radio and some streaming service like deezer or spotify. Anyway at this moment it’s a champion in price/performance ratio.
